Catch Up!

The week before Thangsgiving was PTSA week at the Jr. High. It was a very busy week. It was a fundraiser. Our theme was very cute it was "Time Flies By". Each day of the week the kids were suppose to dress up for the time period. Monday was Prehistoric Day- thank goodness the Halloween costume was able to be used again. Tuesday was the 50's I made my first poodle skirt I was so proud of myself. We also played "Are you smarter than your Principal?" during lunch. Wednesday was the 70's Micah, Myself and Callee worked for hours making pet rocks. We sold them for $1.00 and they made the most money at the fundraiser. They were fun. And Thursday was the 80's we had the most participation in the dress up on this day. It is amazing that the 80's styles are coming back into fashion. We also had a dance off for our lunch activity this day. Thriller is still a very big hit. And Friday was future and the day we did our raffel drawing. The week was so crazy trying to get that all done and work at the same time but it was awesome to have a project to work on with Micah.

Thaddeus had the Cutest Thanksgiving program at school. I couldn't believe how well the teachers had the kids singing. And how well they all memorized their parts. Thaddeus was very entertaing as always. These pictures say it all.
And then of course we are doing Indoor soccer. What would the week be with out practice. Morgan loves to play indoor soccer. It moves very fast but she is always upto the challenge. I love watching her play.
I am a little behind on my Thanksgiving post but I do love Thanksgiving it is always a perfect beginning to the Holidays. I am always greatful for the time to reflect on all the great blessings I have in my life. I LOVE my job. I work for the Fire Department and I have a very awesome Boss who always let's me know I am appreciated and he allows me to be balance work with being a Mom.
I have been blessed with a best friend that moved to Tooele. Lance says he only moved here to keep Callee from shopping but I will always believe it was fate. I would never had made it through this last year with out her. Callee is a good listener, a good shopping buddy although all we have to shop at is Wal-mart, Callee helps me raise my kids, she makes me laugh, she appreciates my stupidity atleast she always acts like she does, and I could go on forever but it would make this blog very long.
I am grateful for challenges that keep me on my toes.
I am grateful for my sisters. Though they are so far away they always take my phone calls and they still let me annoy them like baby sisters should.
And so many others that I won't list but one last one I will. I have the most incredible husband and kids and I am grateful for them every day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad Timing

Well I realize it was bad timing on my part. I really should have posted this cute picture before they lost the game. Believe me these faces weren't this happy after the game the other night. But there is no shame in losing. (Unless it's to the Uof U) But BYU didn't just lose they fell apart. But that's ok. We still stand behind them. Just a little further this week that's all. (I'll always stand behind BYU as long as Bronco is the coach. If he leaves, I'll have to follow. LOL)
Mike's mom has season tickets and each of the kids have had the opportunity to go to a game with Grandma and their Dad. And they have LOVED IT! The kids love to spend time with their Dad. And Mike loves that all of his kids love to watch football. It's one of life's perfect moments.

Confessions

OK, so I realize that most of us only blog the good stuff. But last night I said to Mike I think the blog has made me reveal things I normally wouldn't share. I am not an emotional freak all the time. Only when it comes to my kids. And I hate being that way, emotional that is. I am not use to sharing the tender hearted, baby crying freak that I am when it comes to my kids, but I can't help it I am a sorry sap when it comes to them. That is a sign of old age. So since I am sure everyone is tired of my emotional out bursts I thought today I would blog the more evil side of me. Because that is my better side anyway. So last night after making the one last round to make sure all the kids were tucked in tight, sleeping, and making sure the T.V.'s, radios, cell phones, anything else they find to make noise were off. I started thinking I really need some sugar. Well I was too lazy to run to Maverick, and I had just thrown away the left over halloween candy (stupid, I realized at that moment)so I remember Thaddeus always has the stow away treats in his room. So I snuck into his room and looked around. I spotted the coveted gummy bears. Thaddeus had a baggie of them tucked underneath his arm, I am sure he thought it was a good middle of the night snack, or he was planning on eating them for breakfast. I thought twice about it and then decided he loved his mom enough to share. My intentions were just to eat a few and save him a few. I nudged the bed a little just to make sure he was sound a sleep and then I stole his gummie bears. Instead of eating just a few I ate them all. They were so good. I love gummie bears from Costco. Then like any good mom...... I got up early and went to work leaving Mike to deal with the mystery of the missing gummy bears. I hope Thaddeus likes raisin bran because that was about all we had left for breakfast.

"Beautiful baby from the outside in...."

I am not sure my words can do justice to the feelings I get when I look at this picture. I must has looked at it 100 times today. And each time has brought a new memory or new emotion. With Micah we have been able to experience a lot of "firsts". First baby, first bumps and bruises, first words, first Christmas, first birthday, first loose tooth, first to go to kindergarten, first baptism, first love, first girl fight, first time big sister, and many more. These experiences pull at your heart strings, they teach you how to love more, teach you more patience, teach you more gratitude, teach you more humility.
Last night we attended Young Women in Excellence, it was a formal affair. Micah was so beautiful. Not just on the outside, but it is so apparent that she is absolutely beautiful on the inside too. Micah has an incredible knowledge of who she is, where she came from, and she knows who she wants to become. Micah is determined, focused, smart, a Daddy's girl, a little dramatic, full of love for her family and friends, and full of laughter. Micah is a huge help at home, she is very responsible, and she is the best big sister anyone could ask for. Micah is looking forward to being the Beehive class president. She loves her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Her testimony is growing everyday. All of these first experiences have been amazing, rewarding, emotional, and quite frankly exhausting. What ever did I do before I became a mother?
We had a great night. I wouldn't change any of these experiences for all the diet coke in the world. Course I think I drink all the diet coke in the world because of these experiences.
(Daddy's little girl has him wrapped right around her little finger.... can you tell. )

Little scholars!

Who needs school when you can grow up in a warehouse and learn everything you need to know. Thad unlike my other children and the misfortune or fortune as he would see it to grow up at work with his mom. Thad went to work with me til he was 5 years old. I knew he was street smart, he could work a fork lift, he knows how a tractor trailer backs up, he can run a copy machine, and log onto the Internet. You know all the things 5 year olds know...(lol). But today at our first parent teacher conference we realized somewhere he picked up all the book smarts too. Thad is excelling in Kindergarten far beyond what I think Mike or I had even thought. We just took it for granted because we are around him all the time. He's always funny, says the best things, and we know his vocabulary is huge. But, it is interesting to hear what the teacher had to say about Thaddeus. It's always nice to hear someone else validate what you think and that is that Thad is brilliant. When we showed Thad his report card his words were " I totally Rock!!!!" Yes you do little buddy! Thanks for being such a great kid. (I am sure he'll be reading and editing this soon.)

We also had parent teacher with Morgan's teacher. Morgan also is doing very well in school. She has 4 A's and 1 B+. And for the first time Morgan achieved 100 percent attendance in the first quarter. We received last years core test scores, and she received a 3. (4 is the highest) This was up from the year prior. Morgan's teacher has several pictures hanging in the classroom by her favorite little artist... Morgan. Her teacher even told us about a get well card Morgan made for her. She said it was so cute she took it home to show her kids. They are all in Love with Morgan. Morgan is a beautiful, talented, happy, caring, artistic little girl. Good Job Morgan. Mom and Dad are very proud of your hard work and commitment to doing well in school. Your an amazing little girl. Thanks for bringing so much laughter into our life.

Micah, well she got her very first B+. We were all shocked. But she is handling it very well. (smile) Micah has just started 7th grade. She has 3 advanced placement classes (Algebra, Science, and Spanish), she is involved with PTSA, still playing the piano and attending lessons, intramural sports, She is her Beehive class president, and she is still a very big help at home. Micah is an amazing student she always has been. And although I gave her a hard time for her B+, I totally excuse it it's in History who needs that anyway. (lol) Actually I totally back her up on her defense of the B+ in this instance, I have to blame the teacher he voted for Obama. I am very proud of Micah. Jr High is a big adjustment but she is doing incredible. Thank you Micah for all your hard work. You are a great example to the little's. Mom and Dad are so proud of you and your accomplishments.

Although the kids seemed to enjoy getting candy I think they all enjoyed playing and hanging out even more. Brody and Landon had a Halloween screaming contest. I think it was a tie, they both scream really loud. Brooklyn loved reading books with Uncle Mike. And Hailey, Well she loves posing for pictures for her Aunt Val's blog even though She won't admit it.

"While the cat's away the mice will play...."

Today the kids were out of school but Mike and I both had to be at work. When I got home from work I happened to review the pictures on the camera and this is what I found. I had to laugh there were hundreds of pictures of them goofing off. My kids absolute favorite part of fall is to play in the leaves. Our little tree produced just enough leaves to have a little fun.

So as a little girl I remember going to See's candy store to get that one coveted butterscotch lollipop. We were only allowed to get one. I am not sure if it was to make us remember it more. Or if Mom just thought we would appreciate it more if we only had one. I remember always going at Christmas time this was one of those magic moments of Christmas for me. Although I have not been successful at keeping this tradition alive with my kids for me See's candies will never lose it's magic. Today we ran into the mall while we were passing time before Morgan's soccer game and I decided to take the kids to See's. For just a small minute I felt like that little girl standing anxiously at the counter waiting to be rung up. It seemed almost like time had stopped and that I was standing there with Mom not knowing who had the bigger smile, her or me. Ding Ding the sound of the register quickly brought me back and I couldn't believe the sticker shock $3.78 for 6. Reality really bites. If I am not mistaken they were only a dime when I was young.

All the other Mommy's knew it was slipper day.

This morning was "one of those mornings". Our days usually start about 6:00 a.m. the normal 3 attempts to get the kids out of bed a mad rush to do the routine and be out of the house by 7:00. I remember homework, library books, breakfast, notes, medication, a reminder to brush the teeth, jackets, hair, take the dog out, feed and water her, the to do list for after school. I go over the strainger danger rules. The reminder to take the neighbors dog out afterschool. Car seats for carpool, and of course dropped off the forgotten tennis shoes to the Jr. High. I made my lunch, and remembered the item I needed to drop off to Mike at his office. (and people wonder why I am addicted to diet coke) But this morning Morgan woke up unusually in a bad mood. She is usually my easy going kid in the mornings but not today. By 7:15 I had lost my patience for the morning in a panic because staff meeting was going to start at 8:00 a.m. and I still hadn't left the house yet. I was less than pleasant to the kids and counldn't figure out why Morgan was upset. ( a maniac mom perhaps) So I tried to recover the morning with an apology and an I Love you. By the time I got them to daycare this morning Morgan says to me Mom, when will we get new slippers? I thought to myself well that's a random question for a morning like this. I hopped into the van, headed to work sacrificing the Maverick stop (for all you who know me know that is a very dangerous decision) to attempt to make it to some part of the morning meeting. I pulled out on the main road out of tooele and I heard "All the other Mommy's remembered it was slipper day!" Crap slipper day I had totally forgotten about spirit week and today was slipper day. Seriously, what kind of Mom can't remember that. I had to turn the car toward Walmart and go get slippers. Of course Wal-mart 364 days a year have plenty of slippers in stock, but not today the one day I need them. So Thad ended up with a pair that was too small, and Morgan with a pair that was too big. I hurried through the register knowing that every second counts now to the one checker that was open but apparently hadn't clocked in yet. She needed to finish her conversation with the other co-worker passing by. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How important is staff meeting anyway. Seriously in the grand scheme of things did I really need to be there............this is what kept running through my head and then it hit me serously was I contemplating on saying that to my boss? I was worse off then the I thought, I really needed that Diet coke. I ran the slippers back to daycare and was greeted by 2 of the absolute cutest kids with the biggest grins on their faces. It was all worth it. I was gratful for that small voice that reminded me all the other Mommy's remembered slipper day. Because now for just a small minute I was one of those other Mommy's too. You know the type the perfect Mommy's that have it all put together that remember everything. Yeah right. My kids wouldn't know what to do with that type of Mommy. Well after that I left for work. I finally realized I wasn't going to make staff meeting. Of course that didn't keep me from almost getting pulled over by the highway patrol. (he he he) I stopped in and dropped off what Mike needed and finished the drive to work. Some how it was just ok that I thought I was missing staff meeting. However, after all of that worry...... I got to work to discover Staff meeting was rescheduled for 10:00. I guess I should have read that last email last night. Oh well. We all have days like this.

A car can fit in the garage. Wierd!

So yesterday (of course after soccer) Mike and I decided to attack the garage. It took a long time but..............we can now park the van in the garage! You can't imagine the excitement. I absolutely hate the winter. And scraping off the car has to be the absolute worst thing. My kids will be glad they don't have to do it anymore. Mike worked very very hard and I appreciate it. I am so going to love parking in the garage this winter. Thanks Mike! Normally I would blog a picture of our achievement however, the car is extremely dirty. My next challenge, cleaning the car.

Come on Baby you can do it!

We had Sagan the other night for just a little while and my girls thought it would be fun to teach him how to crawl. They tormented that baby for almost an hour. I am sure he was exhausted when he went home that night. They were trying to get him to crawl after his Binky. That poor kid is a determined Baby he never gave up. He tried and tried and tried. It was the cutest thing I have seen. He did get a little sick of it though you can imagine an hour of scooting your body across the floor, to find out you have been sent back to the other side of the room to try it all over again. I am sure he wore the belly of his P.J.'s out. At the end he started to whimper just enough to get the girls to give him his Binky. He got the Binky and gave a great big smile. We love having Callee's boys at our house.

Carry me to the car? I am wheezing.

So today I recieved a phone call from Thaddeus at school he called to let me know he went to recess and couldn't stop coughing. Then in the classroom he couldn't quit coughing again. So he was sent to the office. I said to the secretary that we would be right there. Course right there for us is 30 min. plus. So I called his Dad whose office is a little closer to home than mine. Although I am sure I could have made it faster than he did. (mommy anxiety makes you go faster Dad's don't get that.) I quickly called the Dr. and got him an appointment. So as we sat at the Doctors office today. The doctor stated that he didn't like the way Thad's chest sounded. He said that he heard Wheezing. Well that is all Thad had to hear. He quickly turned to me and said Mom carry me to the car, I am wheezing. It was too funny. I can see this being an excuse for a really long time. And yes, I do still carry my 6 year old and plan on carrying him as long as he'll let me. He's my baby. Well Thad is fine he is just on an inhaler and all the fun stuff you do when you have asthma. But I love the funny things Thad says. He keeps us smiling.

Clean Clean Clean

Ok so I think I have officially come to the end of any sanity I thought I may have had. You know that life is just plain to crazy with you spend 8 hours cleaning your home and you feel like you just had a day off. I know I sense the eye rolls but it's true. The only thing I had to do today was Morgan' soccer game. And then I couldn't believe it I had the whole rest of the day to spend cleaning my house. I was so excited (if you had seen my house you would be excited I finally cleaned it too). I am not sure I actually should have admitted it took 8 hours to clean, but it felt great to finally get the house cleaned the way I like it cleaned. The kids try to help, and Mike is really good at the pick up and he does what he can. But it's just not the way I want it so today I was finally able to turn up the country music, and clean clean clean and I feel so relaxed, and it's a very rare event but I have no anxiety. I haven't felt this good in a really long time. There is truly very little that compares to waking up in the morning and having everthing in it's place. And being able to actually get out of the bedroom with out stepping on clothes, toys, or whatever is laying in the way. I am sure it will be short lived but I am going to relish in it while I can. afterall, the kids will be awake in 8 hours.

I am tagged, your next......

1. I cant' eat a sandwich with out potatoe chips on it. And only certain chips will do for certain sandwiches. I have to have frenchfries on my hamburger or I can't eat it.

2. Ketchup ordered from a fast food restuarant is better than the ketchup in the fridge at home. Ketchup is required for eating steak.

3. The only line dance that I can remember is the electric slide. That was such a cool dance in it's day.

4. I will not drink out of a public drinking fountain. I have a theory as to why you always find them outside the restrooms. Think about it. It's totally gross.

5. I got caught steeling highway barricades.

6. My heater has been on in my office for the last month.
7. It took 6 pregnancy tests to convince me that I was pregnant with my first daughter.
It's now up to you:
have fun!

And Thanks Chris and Jordan for the tags. Although it took me a long time to do it it was fun. http://tblad.blogspot.com

No Fear

Ok so with these three ready to defend who would be scared of anything but them. Callee must have been feeling very adventurous. She willingly took these 3 to the school halloween carnival. Thad had so much fun. He talked for hours about the carnival and all the fun he had. When I asked him his favorite part it was a toss up between hanging with Ethan and Mason and climbing the big rock wall (he claims to have made it up 7 ft.). He truly felt like Batman that night. Thank you Callee for taking him your are always at the top of Thad's list for coolest person ever!

Ok, So I am no Martha.........

I won't make it on the Martha Stewart Show, or in her magazine but this failed pathetic attempt at a cute creative cake for the school carnival was definitly all worth it as Thad stood next to me and said "Mom you are doing and awesome job. " I am not sure what the heck I was thinking. I don't cook. And I am definitely not creative. Yet I find myself agreeing to donate to the bake sale and the cake walk. Someone shoot me!

Science Geeks!!!!

Saturday Mike and Micah took the opportunity to go and see the art show Body Worlds. This is where they take the human body, plasticise it and put it on display. They really enjoyed the exhibit. Micah's favorite part was touching the human heart. (She is our aspiring surgeon) They enjoyed seeing brain aneurysms, and blood clots and I am sure a whole lot more. Mike's favorite part, having time to spend with his daughter that is growing up way too fast. Both agree however, the Camel is a weird animal.

What a relief!

Well we are fast approaching the end of the first month of school. And we have not recieved one phone call. What a relief. I put Mike's number on all the school forms so they would call him before me. I was not worried about Thad being bad. I was just worried about him being disruptive. Thaddeus loves to be "the class clown." He loves to be funny and he loves to get a reaction so I wondered how well he would do in a controlled environment. But he is doing well. His vocabulary is increasing everyday. His increased vocabulary so far : Adequately, When asked about going to school he said he felt he was not adequately prepared. Appropriately, I asked him what was wrong with what he was doing and he said that he was not acting appropriately. I love this kid. He amazes me everyday. I can't believe how quickly he has grown up.

Random post

I was trying to arrange our downloaded photos into specific folders and came across this photo and I decided to post it. This summer has come and gone very quickly and though time hasn't allowed a big family vacation (yet) we have been able to take a few weekends and enjoy fun activities. This was a short weekend up at Grandma's cabin. We took a ride over to Smith and Morehouse lake. ( I may have spelt that wrong but it's late) We had alot of fun. I am very blessed to have such an incredible family. Mike is an amazing father and husband and each of my kids have their very own personality but they all get along very well (thank goodness) We enjoy hanging out and spending time together. I realize how valuable these weekends are (especially having a teenager).

The best party ever......

So because there never is enough time we had made it clear to September and I hadn't had time to plan Morgan's birthday party that should have been around the 11th of August. And Thad's birthday had come and gone and I was feeling like a loser mom because all kids like birthday parties. So like a "good" mom I thought what would be the easiest, party that you can have in 2 hours because that is all the spare time we could find...... of course a bounce house. So thursday night I rented a bounce house for the party saturday. Yes that was living on the line. I would have been in a whole lot of trouble if there weren't any available. But I have to say this was the best party the kids have had. And the least amount of time I have ever spent on planning it. We did face painting, played in the bounce house, had cake and ice cream and sent everyone home. Not only did I cut it close with the bounce house. Some of the friends didn't even get their invitation til friday night. But we have awesome neighbors and they are all very forgiving. The party turned out good. The kids love their mom again. And all is well at the Greensides home.

7 years later

September 11, a day that I can't seem to define with words, a day of feelings that I can't explain, emotions that with time have not dimmed. As I reflect today the emotions are the same as they were 7 years ago, that lump in the throat, the headache from holding back the tears, the exhausted feeling of heart ache and pain for those who lost their loved ones, the awe of heroism, strength, determination, and undying love. I am sure for most a multitude of emotions were felt that day, for some everyday since, and for others upon reflection the feelings are brought to the for front. I remember that morning being unaware of what was unfolding, I received a phone call from Mike who had said he needed me to get his stuff ready that he would be leaving. Confused I remember asking him where he was going.... a pause on the other end of the phone, Mike realized I had not yet turned on the T.V. or the radio that morning. A quiet direct" you need to turn on the T.V." and as I sat there in silence holding the phone, a dull numb feeling came over me as I realized where Mike was headed. The call ended, very few words were spoken. I took a min. to try to gather my thoughts, wrap up the emotion, and headed to Salt Lake. Mike went with the Utah Task Force 1. A division of FEMA. To assist in the efforts at Ground Zero. As the team headed out in buses. I remember so profoundly the renewed sense of gratitude that I know that we owe those who send their children, fathers, mothers, friends, husbands and wives to fight and defend our country. The gratitude that we owes those willing to leave, and go and fight, and sacrifice everything they have on our behalf. Though Mike was not headed to war I am sure my feelings of emptiness, fear, anticipation of what he would see and experience are very much the same of those who send loved ones to defend the very freedoms that all to often I take for granted. I am glad for the constant reminders of this day, it helps to keep in perspective all that is truly important. In a world that is chaotic and disappointing, It is good to know there will always be those that we call Hero's. Hero's that come from every walk of life. Hero's that do small and simple things to Hero's that do the unthinkable. And this day is a day for me that redefined Heroism.

Happy Birthday Aunt Mel

Today was Aunt Mel's birthday. Mel is my oldest sister. She definitley has lived up to the role of big sister. She has always taken care of me. I can't remember a time when she wasn't there to help me through. Some of my greatest memories growing up were, our walks to Reams to get round chedder tortilla chips. She was always willing to drive me around everywhere. I loved to go see her at Snow College where she took me to get pizza and play the big bertha arcade game. I use to love to snoop around her room when she wasn't home and look for all her secret notes from highschool. When I was 14 or 15 It was new year's eve (my birthday) Mel had worked late and came home and made me and my friends breakfast for my birthday. She is truly a good big sister. I appreciate all that she does for me and my family. I hope you had a great day Mel!!!!!!!

Encore!

This summer some of the neighborhood kids got together and created a play. They put on the play the other night for the parents and a few neighbors. It was so much fun and the kids had a great time. The play was highschool musical. I was impressed my kids were only able to attend practice twice, but they were able to pick up the moves quickly and it was hard to tell they hadn't practiced all summer long. They did a great job. The event was attended by Bishop Quist and his wife, and a few other neighbors. The kids were most impressed the Bishop would come see the play. Next year according to Thad it will be Star Wars. We'll see. .....

To get a tattoo or not to..........

I know you are all wondering why I picked this background. Well I love to watch LA ink. It is one of my favorite shows. It just makes me feel good about who I am. (he he he)

Beautiful Baby Girls.....

These are my absolutely fabulous beautiful baby girls. I can't believe its another school year. Morgan on the Right just started the 4th grade. And Micah on the left JR HIGH. ( can you believe it) I am so proud of my girls. They grow up so fast its hard to keep up. We are looking forward to the school year and all the excitement and new experiences that are sure to come.

Don't you wish you were a freak like me........

Wow look out Kindergarten these boys are taking the school by storm. After having sent the girls off to their first days of school. It was time to take Thad to kindergarten orientation. OH boy! There is definitley a remarkable difference between the girls and their first days and Thad's. The girls were of course anxious and excited, scared and a little reserved, they were concerned with hair, make up, and clothes. But not Thaddeus he is confident, funny, full of life, and ready to conquer. As we approached the school doors and tried to get the 3 boys to take a picture before orientation this was as good as it got. Right after this great pose Thad broke into song. "Don't you wish you were a freak like me......" I started to laugh and prodded him into the school for orientation. I could just see all the other moms full of jealousy. I am sure they wished their kid was as good as mine. (Just as a side note I put his Dad's cell phone first on all the registration and contact papers.) I love this kid!
